À propos
Janaína de Oliveira Melo is an Associate Professor at the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys (UFVJM), Diamantina Campus, Brazil, where she teaches Genetics and Molecular Biology. She earned her B.Sc. in Biochemistry and her M.Sc. in Genetics and Plant Breeding from the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), and her Ph.D. in Genetics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). She is a permanent faculty member of the Graduate Program in Nutrition Science (PPGCN) and a collaborating faculty member of the Graduate Program in Food Science and Technology (PPGCTA) at UFVJM. Her research interests encompass Molecular Genetics, Plant Genomics, Bioinformatics, and Biochemistry, with a particular focus on applications in food science, nutrition, and human health. Her work integrates molecular, biochemical, and computational approaches to investigate the genetic basis of bioactive compounds in foods, genomic diversity, and the relationship between genetics and health. She is currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Bioinformatics at the Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Systems (LBS) and the Laboratory of Human Diversity and Genetics (LDGH) at UFMG. Her current research combines the analysis of human genetic variants, bioinformatics, and protein molecular modeling to investigate the functional effects of genomic variation and its implications for precision medicine and human health.
